The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) announced Dr. Thomas R. Lansford as assistant executive director of animal health programs. Lansford will be headquartered in the TAHC Headquarters in Austin, Texas.
A native of south Texas, Lansford attended Texas A&M University-Kingsville prior to attending Texas A&M University in College Station, where he earned a doctorate in veterinary medicine. Lansford practiced veterinary medicine in a mixed animal veterinary hospital, then as a supervisory circuit veterinarian with the Texas Department of State Health Services Meat Safety Assurance Unit.
Lansford then served as the program's assistant state director in Austin. He is currently the TAHC Region 5 Director, which is headquartered in Beeville.
"As the Texas Animal Health Commission moves forward with future endeavors to protect and serve the livestock, poultry and exotic livestock industries, I am excited to be named as the assistant executive director over animal health programs," Lansford said.
"The Texas Animal Health Commission is excited to have Dr. Lansford as the new AED over animal health programs. With his experience and background, Dr. Lansford will be an asset to the agency. I am pleased to welcome him into his new role in overseeing animal health and emergency management programs," said Dr. Dee Ellis, executive director of TAHC.
Lansford and his wife Christy have two sons.
