Designed for dairy producers, industry partners and dairy enthusiasts, the annual World Dairy Expo is a showcase for elite dairy cattle, cutting-edge research and modern technologies. The year 2016 marks the 50th anniversary of the event — a celebration of the journey from a small world food expo to the internationally renowned show of today.
The event will take place October 4-8, 2016, in Madison, Wisconsin, with the theme of “Celebrate 50!” to commemorate its golden anniversary. Anniversary events will take place throughout the week, starting with an official kick-off to the show during Tuesday morning’s opening ceremony and continuing through Saturday evening.
2016 seminars
This year, eight seminars will feature cutting-edge topics including dairy product demand, workforce trends, manure processing, pregnancy rates, water quality and nutrition, genomic testing, low milk prices and the veterinary feed directive. Visit the World Dairy Expo website for the seminar schedule.
Virtual farm tours
The virtual farm tours give attendees an opportunity to tour a variety of different farms without leaving the show. These free tours include a half-hour visual presentation of the operation by the owners or herd managers with time for questions and discussion afterwards. Tours are presented daily, Tuesday through Saturday. Some of the farms offering tours this year are:
- Kings Ransom Farm, highlighting value-added dairying
- Kellercrest Registered Holsteins, highlighting cow comfort
- Twin Brook Creamery, highlighting utilizing technology
- Ruby Ridge Dairy, highlighting forage quality and precision feeding
- Forget-Me-Not Farms, highlighting expansion
