The datafication of agriculture has given farmers the tools to produce more food, more efficiently. Livestock Water Recycling’s ability to use Digital AgTech to deliver precision nutrient control on livestock operations has secured them a position in the third Cohort of the TELUS Technology Accelerator.

AgTech is rapidly changing the agriculture industry. In 2017, AgriFood technology investment reached $10.1 billion and the future growth of the industry remains strong. The growing global population and the ever increasing demand for sustainable food production will continue to drive this trend. The LWR System is the only proven technology that reduces the overall volume of manure, concentrates nutrients and delivers a renewable, high-quality water source. LWR also offers producers an analytics module that can be used to improve crop production and reduce environmental risks. Farmers are provided with information that can lead to actionable on-farm decisions that will further enhance production efficiencies.

“Our technology platform has been transformative for our clients and our many years of manure treatment experience has resulted in information that they have found to be extremely valuable” says Karen Schuett, CTO and Co-Founder of LWR. “Manure treatment has advanced quickly over the past few years, and we expect this one-of-a-kind platform to further revolutionize nutrient management on the farm. It is optimizing production and saving them time and money. We are very excited about the possibilities that await us as we work through this accelerator with TELUS."

The TELUS Technology Accelerator is an eight-month program designed to accelerate business models, technologies, and operational backbone of businesses that are addressing a broad range of challenges from designing Smart Cities to the complex world of Digital Agtech. The goal of this accelerator is to support the development of growth-stage companies with technologies that TELUS could potentially use, integrate or commercialize.

Food producers are embracing the digital transformation trends that are emerging in agriculture. By using technology as a sustainable and scalable resource, agriculture will grow to new heights. AgTech advancements like the LWR System are simplifying and streamlining the industry resulting in higher food production with less waste.

“LWR is an excellent example of what technology can do for the farm and society” says Todd Orman, Director – Products and Services, with TELUS. “Not only does it address real environmental issues, it brings economic value to the producer.

We are proud to support this technology and look forward to working with LWR as it further commercializes this disruptive product.”

As an early startup, LWR was honored to win the $100,000 Challenge presented by TELUS and the Globe and Mail. Now considered to be industry experts in manure treatment, LWR looks forward to accelerating their business forward once again with the experts in connectivity.
