Neovia has acquired Colombian premix company Biomix. This acquisition allows Neovia to strengthen its positions in the global premix market and have a significant position in the fourth-largest economic power in Latin America. Neovia has confidence in the growth potential of the Colombian premix market and will progressively deploy its brand of premix and international Wisium services in addition to Biomix’s current offering.

Biomix, a market specialist in premix growth in Colombia

Founded in 1999, Biomix is the third-largest player in premix and services in the Colombian market. The company is mainly active in poultry but also offers solutions for other species such as pork and ruminants. Located near Medellin, the company has a factory certified FAMI-QS 2 with 500 square meters of storage space and employs about 80 people. Biomix has a portfolio of recognized brands, such as Toxibond and Biocalcio, and offers reference solutions against mycotoxins as well as mineral supplements.

Third largest producer of poultry meat in Latin America

With a population of 49 million and steady growth over the past 15 years, Colombia is positioning itself as a market with high potential. In 2017, GDP growth was 2.2 percent, according to the IMF, among the largest dynamic regional economies, behind Peru. Rising living standards combined with the political stability of the country make Colombia a promising market. Thus, the country is now the fourth-largest market in animal feed in terms of volume in Latin America after Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina. The country is also the third-largest producer of poultry meat in Latin America, with 774 million poultry meat in 2017.

Biomix enjoys a good brand image with its customers and a recognized expertise of almost 20 years. The merger of the company with Neovia will enable it to expand its portfolio of products and solutions and gradually roll out Neovia’s international brand of premix and innovative services, already present in more than 50 countries, including several major countries.
