7. Perdue Farms: 682,240,000 head slaughtered annually in 2018

Perdue Farms is the parent company of poultry integrator Perdue Foods and its sister company Perdue AgriBusiness. Perdue Farms is a family owned company that has become one of the largest poultry producers in the U.S., producing 12 million broilers per week.

Perdue Foods produces chicken for retailers and foodservice customers around the world. It’s a leader in all-vegetarian-fed and no-antibiotics-ever chicken, turkey, pork and USDA-certified organic chickens. It employs 18,922. 

In 2018, Perdue Foods' overall poultry sales were $4.176 billion. It produced an estimated 64.42 million pounds of ready-to-cook chicken on a weekly basis in 2018, an increase of 1.56 million pounds – or about 2.5 percent – from 2017. Its 2018 chicken sales were $3.835 billion, a decrease from $3.882 billion in 2017. 

Perdue Foods' sales break out to 65 percent retail, 20 percent foodservice, 12 percent wholesale/industrial and 4 percent export. Product forms are 72 percent fresh and 28 percent frozen.
