Northern Ireland veterinarian, Dr. Simon Doherty, has won the prestigious One Health category at the WVA Global Veterinary Awards. Nominated by the British Veterinary Association, he is recognized for his exceptional contributions to One Health, spanning roles such as president of the British Veterinary Association and chair of the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe Food Safety & Sustainability Working Group.
Dr. Doherty, currently a senior lecturer at Queen’s University, Belfast, will be honored at the awards ceremony on April 17 during the 39th World Veterinary Association Congress in Cape Town, South Africa. The event will announce winners in other categories, with an overall Veterinarian of the Year named. The WVA and Ceva Santé Animale express gratitude for global veterinarians, emphasizing the One Health approach. Ceva's CEO, Dr. Marc Prikazsky, applauds Dr. Doherty for promoting a comprehensive One Health strategy.
