Practical advice on ventilation in straw-bedded systems has been published in a new guide from the British Pig Executive environment team, called “Providing pigs with good ventilation in straw-bedded general purpose buildings.”

Many growing and finishing pigs are kept in straw-bedded pens in naturally-ventilated buildings in Europe and other part of the world, said a spokesman. "It is important that the ventilation functions properly so that the natural dunging and lying behavior of pigs is achieved, with the two areas of each pen clearly defined," said the spokesman. The guide can be downloaded online.
