Fourth Street Barbecue recalls product due to possible health risk

Fourth Street Barbecue Inc. Packing Division has initiated a voluntary recall of all lot numbers of the Save-A-Lot Pick 5 Chicken Waffle Sandwich due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

Fourth Street Barbecue Inc. Packing Division has initiated a voluntary recall of all lot numbers of the Save-A-Lot Pick 5 Chicken Waffle Sandwich due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The product was sold frozen and distributed nationwide to Save-A-Lot stores.

The recall is a result of notification by the supplier, Pinnacle Foods.

The following products are included in this recall:

  • Save-A-Lot Pick 5 Mix & Match Chicken & Waffle Sandwich. UPC Code 051933353664. 14.4 oz./box

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

No illnesses have been reported to date. However, Fourth Street Barbecue is initiating the voluntary recall in an abundance of caution to protect public health. No other Fourth Street Barbecue Inc. Packing Division products are affected by this recall.

Consumers who have any of these products should not consume them. For information about replacement or refund for the recalled products, call the company’s Customer Hotline at 724-483-2056, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST.
