Ed Benjamins retires from CFO board

Ed Benjamins to step down from CFO board.

The Chicken Farmers of Ontario (CFO) board of directors is officially announcing the upcoming retirement of the current chair, Ed Benjamins.

Farming with his family in Moorefield, Ontario, for over four decades, Ed first joined the CFO board in the 90s and was instrumental in the national system as an advocate for supply management during the pivotal World Trade Organization (WTO) talks.

Ed re-joined the Board in 2014 and has held the position of chair for the past five years.

Ed will be stepping down from the board on March 28, 2022 to spend more time on the family farm with his beloved wife, kids and grandkids–where they will continue their love of chicken farming.

Ed has been an incredible leader and steward to Chicken Farmers of Ontario, our over 1,300 family-run farms and our collective industry.

His contributions to the Ontario agricultural sector and his dedication to moving our industry forward have been invaluable.

Over the years, Ed has led the organization through important change as the board has been focused on the sustainability of chicken farming and our supply managed system.

Most recently, his leadership has been instrumental in guiding CFO through the ever-challenging COVID-19 pandemic–ensuring farmers, their families, industry partners and CFO staff have had the tools they need to stay safe and to keep a steady supply of chicken on the shelves for Ontarians.

We invite all our stakeholders to join us in celebrating Ed’s timeless achievements at the CFO Annual General Meeting (AGM) on March 28, 2022.

More details and formal invitations will be issued to farmers and stakeholders in the new year.

The CFO AGM will be held in-person at the Hilton Meadowvale in Mississauga and an online component will be available to those wishing to join remotely.

The CFO board will elect from itself a new chair following the 2022 AGM.
