Sue Middleton wins rural woman honor

Plans to use funds to investigate biogas

ABC Rural reported that Sue Middleton has been named the Rural Woman of the Year. The western Australian pig, grain and citrus farmer and other finalists in the contest were recognized at a recent ceremony in the Great Hall of Parliament House in Canberra.

Winners receive $10,000 and a leadership course. With her award, Middleton wants to look into biogas power from her 10,000 pigs. Middleton and her husband run a large grain farm, a large citrus orchard and manage the Pig Skills Center Breeding Unit in addition to raising pigs.
