Courteney Cox’s turkey burgers and dry humor

I’m starting to see a trend with celebrities taking to Instagram to share their favorite poultry-related recipes.

Just about a week after Britney Spears shared a video on Instagram about her favorite chicken and turkey sandwich, we have another celebrity – Courteney Cox – touting her wonderful turkey burger.

Cox, who is best known for playing Monica on the hit television show “Friends,” actually played a chef on that series. So does art imitate life? Is Cox’s turkey burger really great?

Well, there was a pretty amusing video showing her preparing her favorite turkey burgers and sharing one with fellow celebrity Laura Dern, perhaps best known for her role in the “Jurassic Park” movies.

Dern gives it a try, and when asked by Cox how it is, Dern says, “It’s a little dry,” to the surprise and dismay of Cox, who then perhaps a little irately walks away. But then Dern looks into the camera, and laughs, and she whispers, “it’s insane,” which I believe is meant as a compliment.

It evidently was a compliment, because otherwise I doubt that Cox would have shared that video on her Instagram channel.

Cox, in addition to sharing the video on Instagram, also shared the recipe for her turkey burger, to which she credits chef Jen O’Toole. And the recipe doesn’t just call for any ground turkey. It specifically calls for Jennie-O ground turkey.

So the next question is can Courteney Cox be the inspiration behind a new Jennie-O Turkey Store advertising campaign. I had suggested that Schlotzky’s – which was the inspiration behind Spears’ sandwich – jump on that opportunity.

Both could happen, but I think Dern, with her quip about the dryness probably shouldn’t earn a spot in any promotional items.

I know! Maybe Cox could call on her former “Friends” co-star Matt LeBlanc. After all, LeBlanc’s character, Joey Tribbiani, once risked his life in the back of a cop car to save his sandwich. You can’t be more dedicated to your food than that.
