Ingham’s is constructing a new broiler breeder farm in Casino, New South Wales, Australia.

The new farm will be close to the company’s other breeder farms in northern New South Wales, in Coombell, Boorabee Park and Yorklea. With the close proximity of these four farms, the company will be able to share labor and resources within the region, while leveraging synergies such as more efficient transport of eggs to hatcheries in McKees Hill and Mount Alford.

While there will be shared labor among the four facilities, the additional farm will lead to the addition of 45 employees, the company said in a press release.

The new breeder complex has one rearing farm supplying two breeder (egg‑producing) farms. The rearing farm was operational from November 2022, the first breeder farm was operational in April 2023 and the final farm will be operational in early 2024.

Once complete, the farms will have the capacity to support the sustainable growth and demand for Ingham’s products supplying another 700,000 eggs per week.

The news of a new broiler breeder farm follows an earlier announcement from the company that it had entered an agreement to acquire assets from Bromley Park Hatcheries in New Zealand.

The announcement also comes shortly after rival Australian poultry company Baiada Poultry revealed that it is constructing two fully-automated breeding farms in the Riverina region of New South Wales.

Headquartered in Liverpool, Australia, Ingham’s operates more than 340 vertically integrated facilities across Australia and New Zealand. According to the WATTpouoltry.com Top Poultry Companies survey, it slaughtered 222.5 million broilers in 2021. The company is also involved in turkey production and it produces feed for poultry, horses, dairy cattle and pigs.
