Increases in numbers were recorded for all types of livestock in Kazakhstan in 2009, with the number of poultry increasing the most, by 9.3%, to 32.94 million.
The value of livestock production in Kazakhstan last year was KZT700B (US$4.7B), an increase of 2.3% from 2008, according to the State Statistics Agency. The Kazakh government plans to develop all sectors of the livestock industry over the next few years.
