A shortage of fresh poultry in the United Arab Emirates has led officials to look for alternative sources of supply, according to reports.
The industry-wide shortage is the result of supplier farms installing new equipment to develop their product lines, a move which has caused delivery delays and a 50% reduction in current supplies. Other suppliers are currently working to make up the difference. Prices have not been affected by the shortage, according to officials, who said the Ministry of Economy has poultry prices at Dh 16 (US$4.37) per kilogram.
