Cargill has named Tom Taylor as managing director of its U.S. premix organization, which goes to market under the Provimi brand.
Taylor has held several key leadership positions in his 35-year career and brings a proven track record of building successful teams that deliver solutions customers need. Previously, Taylor led the U.S. dairy business and was responsible for Cargill Animal Nutrition’s integration of the recently completed acquisition of Southern States Cooperative.
“This is truly an exciting time for the Provimi brand, as a number of energizing changes are positioning us to meet the future needs of customers as their trusted nutrition adviser,” Taylor said. “I’m honored to lead a team that is dedicated to remaining at the forefront of a fast-changing animal nutrition industry and investing appropriately to align with our customers’ needs.”
Provimi’s U.S. business has made several recent moves to extend its depth in the growing market for non-medicated additives and supplements, as well as premix and other specialty feeds:
- The organization recently held an open house for its specialty blending facility in Lewisburg, Ohio, a state-of- the-art plant that manufactures specialty products such as forage inoculants, direct-fed microbial blends, and other non-medicated additives and supplements.
- On November 8, the organization held a groundbreaking ceremony for its $50 million Lewisburg West facility, which will be one of the first completely non-medicated animal nutrition premix plants in the U.S. Scheduled to start production in spring 2019, this facility will offer customers even greater non-medicated offerings in line with changing consumer preferences. Once completed, the current plant, Lewisburg East, will become dedicated to manufacturing medicated products.
- Also in November, the Provimi team launched a sow research partnership at the Hejlik family’s Eagle Estate farm in Britt, Iowa, that will focus on piglet livability and will provide on-farm training to technical and commercial staff.
As part of Cargill Animal Nutrition’s global network of assets, capabilities and expertise, and Cargill’s 152-year history of nourishing the world, Provimi brings an unparalleled breadth and depth of offerings tailored to helping customers achieve their goals.
“We are tremendously excited for the opportunities that Cargill’s ever-growing portfolio of solutions will bring to our relationship with our customers,” Taylor said. “We strive to lead in nourishing the world in a safe, responsible and sustainable way. That means helping our animal nutrition customers do more with less, and bringing to the market innovative non-medicated solutions that help them meet consumer expectations both today and tomorrow.”
