The 12th International Poultry Forum China, with the theme of “Winning the Future, Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development of the Poultry Industry’ was successfully held on July 7-8, 2023, in Shanghai.

The forum was hosted by LyJa Media. Dingding Li, general manager of LyJa Media, Zhu Wenqi, Secretary-General of Shanghai Poultry Industry Association and Deputy Secretary-General of Yellow Feather Broiler Branch of China Animal Husbandry Association, gave welcome speeches. More than 500 experts, companies and representatives from the poultry meat and egg industry attended the event.

The forum focused on topics such as:

  • Global poultry production and sustainable development
  • China’s poultry industry development outlook in the macroeconomic environment
  • The best poultry and food sustainability and social responsibility practices
  • 2023 China Consumption trend insights
  • Poultry meat supply
  • China management innovation, market penetration and consumption reconstruction of segmented products
  • Refined processing concepts to enhance product volume
  • Marketing opportunities in the artificial intelligence era

The forum also explored with participants three years after the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic. New opportunities for the poultry industry in changing market segments to give the poultry industry more new momentum.

Chris Dubois, executive vice president of Circana Consulting, citing the latest survey data in the first quarter of 2023 and comparing it to pre-COVID-19 2019 data, said consumption is gradually recovering, and the consumer market in most countries around the world is still relatively healthy. However, it is necessary to be wary that GDP growth in all countries around the world is slowing, and they are all facing inflation and rising prices, Dubois said.

Li Jinghui, deputy secretary general of the China Animal Husbandry Association and secretary-general of the White Feather Broiler industry branch of the China Animal Husbandry Association, believes that the most likely growth of China’s poultry market in the next few years will be with white feather broilers, and even will maintain a growth rate of 3-5% every year and reach an annual slaughter volume of 10 billion in 2030.

“In the face of a new round of opportunities, poultry companies should take the ambition of forging ahead, have the spirit of new returning, and strive for new outlets and win the future,” Li Dingding said.
