Chicago resident Brittany Applegate made a joke on her Instagram account that led to countless packs of her favorite uncured turkey bacon.

Coincidentally, she shares a name with her preferred brand of bacon, Applegate. Her Instagram post featured a picture of the product while joking that she must be related to the company and wanted free products for a lifetime.

To her surprise, the brand quickly responded to her promising a unique delivery. The message stated, “We are so happy to hear your love for our turkey bacon, Brittany! While we do not offer lifetime products, we would love to put together a special delivery for you. Please send us your full name and mailing address when you get the chance.”

Just a couple of days later, Applegate received a large box of her beloved turkey bacon from the company.

"For their community or social media manager to engage with me in such a fun way, and also to close the loop on the customer experience by asking for my address and really sending me many, many packs of turkey bacon, I thought it was amazing!" she said to ABC 7 Chicago

While we do not know exactly how many packs Applegate received, we do know that she has already started enjoying her first pack of turkey bacon and is glad her social media post resulted in “good eating.”

Applegate is a growing brand

Hormel Foods’ Applegate brand has become a competitor in the meat and poultry products over the last few years.

During Hormel’s March 2022 financial results review, President and CEO Jim Snee stated, “Applegate delivered another outstanding quarter, with growth across the portfolio for products such as breaded chicken, breakfast sausage and sliced meats. Applegate has given us a clear, competitive advantage in the natural and organic meats space, and has provided a platform for some of our most important environmental work, such as regenerative agriculture,” Snee stated.

The Applegate sector is part of Hormel’s Refrigerated Foods unit, which recorded a net sales increase of 19% and a profit increase of 15%, each on a year-over year basis.

In August 2020, Snee commented on the brand’s progress, stating, “The growth we have seen from Applegate in the last few months is staggering and we are investing in the business in order to maintain momentum.”
