The Koch Foods poultry production facility in Fairfield, Ohio is getting an upgrade. According to Journal News, the $220 million expansion, which began October 2021, is expected to be operational by February 27 of next year.

“We’re right on schedule. We lost a little bit, about four weeks, due to rain in the spring,” said Koch General Manager Brian Reisen. The project was initially projected to be done by December of this year

The facility’s 1,190 workforce will get an additional 400 over the next three years which will bring Koch Foods’ employee total to approximately 2,000. As part of the company’s promise to bring more jobs to Fairfield, Ohio – 25 miles north of Cincinnati – the city granted a 75% tax abatement for the next 10 years.

Koch Foods was also awarded the James A. Wuenker Growth Award in March of this year by Ohio-based economic development company, REDI Cincinnati, for its commitment to bring more jobs to Ohio. According to REDI Cincinnati, recipients of the award need to have had a significant impact on job growth and capital investment in the community.

“We’re still marching along. Business has been going very well,” said Reisen. “We’re an eight-language facility, and a lot of our employees come by way of mouth referrals.”

The 402,140-square-foot production facility sits on 18 acres just behind the original 45-acre campus and is not the only new addition to the local Koch Foods operation. The company also purchased a 277,000-square-foot building for $8.4 million which has “been acquired by Koch with the expectation for a future frozen and dry warehouse,” Resien said.

Koch Foods intends to have three operational production lines at the facility by the end of 2023 which will bring the company total up to 10.

According to the WATTPoultry.com Top Companies Database, Koch Foods processes 60.74 million pounds of chicken weekly.
