Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen chicken wings are on the menu for good following successful tests earlier this year.

“This is something my team has been working on for three years, and we took our time to get it right. Ghost Pepper has become a heavy hitter in our arsenal of products, and in marrying that with our Wings we knew we had something special. Now, we’ve found ways to add flavors on top for a variety of tastes our guests are sure to love,” said head chef, Amy Alarcon, VP of Culinary Innovation at Popeyes.

“We are beyond excited to unveil this full lineup,” she added, noting that the Sweet ‘N Spicy Wings were the highest performing product for the brand since the launch of its popular chicken sandwich.

The quick service restaurant (QSR) brand plans to sell five chicken wing flavors: Honey BBQ, Roasted Garlic Parmesan, Signature Hot and Sweet ‘N Spicy. The wings retail for $5.99 for a 6-piece.

Ghost Pepper Wings first hit Popeyes menus in January 2023. At the time, Sami Siddiqui, president of Popeyes North America, called them a combination of “the perfect amount of spice and flavor for wing levels.”

Sales at Popeyes locations open at least 17 months increased 5.6% in the U.S. year-over-year, according to company financial reports for the third quarter of 2023. At least part of that jump was attributed to chicken wing sales.

“At Popeyes, we like to challenge the status quo and are consistently redefining what’s expected from fast food brands,” Siddiqui said in a statement. “We know our guests want even more bold Louisiana-inspired wing flavors to choose from and are excited to see our new wings line-up take flight.”

Rival QSR chain KFC also tested chicken wings for a limited time beginning September 10.
