The battle of the fried chicken sandwiches got spicy this week. Quick service restaurant chain, Chick-fil-a, previewed a slimmed down menu and three spicy chicken products this week at select restaurants in Charlotte, North Carolina and Arizona.
Keeping it spicy
The three new spicy entrees – spicy chick-n-strips, a spicy chick-n-strip biscuit and the grilled spicy chicken deluxe – are now available in participating restaurants located in Charlotte.
Each of the three items ware made of the restaurants signature grilled or hand-breaded chicken and seasoned with a spicy blend of peppers. The strips will be available as part of a 3- or 4-count entrée with your choice of dipping sauce. For breakfast, customers can order the Spicy Chick-n-Strip Biscuit made of two Spicy Chick-n-Strips layered on a buttered biscuit.
The Grilled Spicy Deluxe Sandwich features a grilled boneless breast of spicy marinated chicken accompanied by Colby-jack cheese, lettuce and tomatoes on a brioche bun.
Chick-fil-a tested variations of these spicy chicken options last year in Arizona. The chain will use customer feedback on the new spicy offerings to determine whether or not to release them nationwide.
New modified menu
The restaurant’s new menu cut a few items as well – including the breakfast sausage, original chicken strips, side salad and decaf coffee. Participating restaurants in Charlotte and Arizona will also limit certain items to only one size. For example, the kids’ nugget meal will now only be available in a five-count.
The limited menu aims to let the company "maintain a focus on serving high quality food and make room for future offerings,” according to a statement on the restaurant’s website.
“Our goal is to serve quality food as efficiently as possible. For us to continue providing the food and service you know and love, we are testing this modified menu to see if it improves your experience in our restaurants.”
