Chick-fil-A will test the maple pepper bacon chicken sandwich in the Indianapolis, Indiana and Lexington, Kentucky markets for a limited time, joining several other foodservice brands in the release of expanded chicken sandwich flavors.
"Throughout my childhood, I always loved maple syrup, so I was thrilled to incorporate it into our newest chicken entrée, the Maple Pepper Bacon Sandwich. The sweetness of the maple syrup complements the smoky flavors of the grilled chicken and the hint of spice from the pepper jack cheese and pickles," Christy Cook, Chick-fil-A chef, said in a statement.
The maple pepper bacon chicken sandwich features a lemon herb marinated boneless chicken breast, topped with pepper jack cheese, lettuce and brown sugar pepper bacon. It is served on a buttered and toasted maple-flavored brioche bun.
Chick-fil-A will begin trialing the new chicken sandwich at select locations beginning June 12.
New chicken sandwiches a top 2023 trend
New variations on the fried chicken sandwich is one of the top restaurant trends of the year, the National Restaurant Association announced. This includes three new chicken sandwiches from Burger King: the Mexican Original Chicken Sandwich, Italian Original Chicken Sandwich and American Original Chicken Sandwich.
Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen also recently introduced the Blackened Chicken Sandwich, expanding the quick service restaurant’s line-up of chicken sandwiches to six.
The Blackened Chicken Sandwich, available in both classic and spicy, is similar to the quick service chain’s Blackened Chicken Tenders. It features a non-breaded chicken breast slathered in seasoning and served with mayonnaise and pickles on a brioche bun and retails for $4.99.
"As we expand our iconic Chicken Sandwich line-up, the Blackened Chicken Sandwich will provide guests with a lighter option that is perfect for everyday,” said Sami Siddiqui, president of Popeyes. “And, with the addition of bacon and cheese, our loyal fans will now have six Chicken Sandwich options to choose from, all with the irresistible Cajun flavors and boldness they crave.”
