The brand is following up on a missed opportunity from last year.

The Spooky Chicken Nuggets from Tyson Foods that put a spell on consumers last Halloween are back – and this time they’re available in the freezer section of retailers nationwide.

The limited-edition Halloween themed nuggets should taste the same as other nuggets produced by Tyson but come in three specialty shapes to celebrate the spooky season: pumpkin, bats and ghosts.

“When we launched Spooky Nuggets last year, we were blown away by consumers' excitement for our newest shape from our Fun Nugget lineup," said Jessica Johnson, managing director at Tyson Foods.

"This year, we knew we had to go bigger than before, so we are excited to have these on shelves coast-to-coast so even more consumers can have a savory treat this spooky season."

Following up on a missed opportunity

When Spooky Nuggets launched in 2022, they were only available to a select few through an Instagram giveaway.

Those who wanted a chance at some of these Tyson Spooky Nuggets were asked to comment on the Instagram announcement post with the emoji of the shape they are most excited to try, and tag a friend they’d like to share them with, using hashtags #TysonSpookyNuggets and #Sweepstakes.

At the time, my colleague Roy Graber called the giveaway a missed opportunity, adding that he hoped that “we will see more of these fun-shaped nuggets during future Halloweens.”

Well, it appears that Tyson Foods took his advice.

According to a press release from the company, there was an “overwhelming demand from last fall’s limited run consumer giveaway.”

As a result, Tyson Spooky Nuggets will be sold in the freezer aisle at Walmart, Kroger, Publix, Aldi, HEB, Meijer, Albertson’s Safeway and more nationwide while supplies last. If you wanted Spooky Nuggets last year, but didn’t get your opportunity, this is your chance.

Maybe this is a jumping off point for other themed nuggets, like their heart-shaped nuggets for Valentine’s Day, to go on sale in store?
